PROJECT SYNOPSIS

Nyanza Light Metals (Pty) Ltd (Nyanza) is proposing to construct and operate a plant that will produce 80 000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) pigment.

The National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA), and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (promulgated in terms of NEMA) warrant that listed activities require Environmental Authorisation (EA) from EDTEA and a Waste Management Licence (WML) from the DFFE. A Scoping and EIA process is required to support an application for an EA and WML.

SRK Consulting (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd (SRK) has been appointed by Nyanza Light Metals (Pty) Ltd (Nyanza) as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP), to undertake the S&EIA process required in terms of the NEMA and the EIA Regulations, 2014.
