The Mandeni Municipality are proposing the formalization of the Hlomendlini Sports Facility. The Site covers an area of approximately 3.4 hectares, and it is envisaged that the project will include the construction of a proposed soccer field, open stands, ablutions and changerooms, a conservancy tank, irrigation system, and a combi court.
In terms of the 2014 Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations promulgated under the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA), the proposed activity is subject to a Basic Assessment (BA) process to obtain an Environmental Authorisation (EA). SRK Consulting South Africa (Pty) Ltd. (SRK) has been appointed by Mandeni Municipality to act as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) for the BA process.
