The Provincial Government Western Cape: Department of Infrastructure (DoI) (formerly the Department of Transport and Public Works [WCDTPW]) proposes to construct a bypass road approximately 3 km long, to the north of the Hermanus Central Business District (CBD), abutting Mountain Drive, past the Hermanus Sports Complex and along Fairways Avenue, in Hermanus in the Western Cape.
SRK Consulting (South Africa) Pty Ltd (SRK) has been appointed to undertake the Scoping and Environmental Impact Reporting (S&EIR, also referred to as EIA) process required in terms of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998, as amended (NEMA).
Hermanus, Western Cape
The applicant – the Western Cape Department of Infrastructure - has decided not to proceed with the Hermanus CBD Bypass project in its current form and therefore intends withdrawing the applications for both the Hermanus CBD Bypass Environmental Authorisation (EA) as well as the Amendment to the EA for the Hermanus Golf Course. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and EA Amendment processes have thus both been terminated and no further input or comments from stakeholders are required.
