Fiona Cessford

With a background in environmental and social impact assessment and permitting, Fiona provides ESG support to capital projects from scoping through to feasibility, and into operations, with the aim of integrating and embedding ESG into business decision making.  She contributes to mineral reporting and advises on ESG management and closure planning for both new projects and existing operations.  

Her interest is in assisting clients to: a) manage impacts and risks whilst maximising value add; b) gain and maintain a licence to operate; and c) meet the expectations of stakeholders from local communities through to major investors.  She provides ESG input to decisions on financial transactions, has been the independent ESG consultant on several loan agreements in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe, and has contributed expert opinion to international arbitrations. She communicates ESG risks (threats and opportunities) in a language understood by mine managers, investors, corporate decision makers and other stakeholders.
